- 68030, 68040 or PPC
- 8-bit color
- 6 MB free disk space
- 8 MB RAM
Software: System 7.1 or greater
Netscape: 2.0
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
- Drag the file "Shockwave68K" into the Netscape "Plug-ins"
folder.
KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH WORKAROUNDS:
- Out of Memory Errors (5 or -108).
Workaround: Increase Netscape's application memory to 8000k.
Restart Netscape.
- General redraw/refresh problems.
Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
- Movies using shared.dir may crash.
Workaround: Don't play movies with shared.dir in the same
folder.
- Changing the color depth or screen resolution while a movie
is playing will cause the movie to draw incorrectly.
Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
- KeyUp lingo commands will not work.
Workaround: Use keyDown.
- If the Disk Cache is set to 0k, movies will not play.
Workaround: Increase Netscape's Disk Cache to 5000k.
- A broken icon appears indicating the movie cannot be loaded.
Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
Also, ensure the web server MIME-type is
"application/x-director".
- Keyboard or mouse selections do not seem to work outside
the movie area.
Workaround: Ensure repeat loops do not execute for more than
1 second because the user will be unable to interact with the
browser during Lingo loops. Loop by moving between frames
instead.
KNOWN PROBLEMS WITHOUT WORKAROUNDS:
- Transitions. Cover, push, reveal and wipe transitions may
display garbage on the stage. Dissolve transitions will
appear as dissolve pattern.
- NetLingo commands. PreloadNetThing may not work in
conjunction with gotoMovie and gotoNetPage.
- Multiple movies on a page may not work as expected.
- Tables. Movies embedded in tables may crash.
- PPC issues (such as a broken icon). Avoid using Virtual
Memory. Avoid using Speed Doubler.
